Tom Welling And Lynda Carter Reportedly Returning For Crisis On Infinite Earths

This fall's "Crisis on Infinite Earths" is no doubt going to be the biggest crossover to hit the Arrowverse yet. In fact, all the signs are pointing to it being the most ambitious TV crossover event in history. We already know that it will see Brandon Routh suit up again as Superman, for the first time since 2006's Superman Returns, plus Batman '66's Burt Ward - as in the Boy Wonder, Robin himself - will also appear.

Now, two more major DC universe stars are reportedly set to feature in “Crisis.” CosmicBookNews.com writes that “a source from Comic-Con” has informed them that both Smallville‘s Tom Welling and 70s Wonder Woman Lynda Carter will make appearances in the event. The site confirms that the pair are expected to reprise their famous superhero roles as Clark Kent and Diana Prince, respectively.

Carter returning would make sense in many ways as, similar to Routh, she’s already part of the Arrowverse in a different role. The actress played President Marsdin across Supergirl‘s second and third seasons, so seeing as the production team have an established relationship with her, it shouldn’t be too difficult to get her back for “Crisis.” Assuming DC allows them the use of Wonder Woman, that is.

As for Welling, he’s arguably the star fans most want to see in the crossover so the Smallville faithful would go wild if this is true. 2018’s “Elseworlds” has already heavily referenced The CW Superman prequel so perhaps Welling’s guest spot has been in the works for a while. In fact, the actor is rumored to have admitted at a convention appearance that he’s showing up in this season of Arrow. On other occasions, though, Welling’s suggested he wouldn’t want to return to his most famous role, so who knows?

In any case, fingers crossed this intel turns out to be on the money, as having Welling and Carter back would make “Crisis on Infinite Earths” extra special when the five-part event kicks off later this year.
