Batman Unlimited: Mech Vs. Mutants Trailer And Release Date Revealed

Although many of us appreciate mature animated films featuring The Dark Knight such as the recently released Batman: Bad Blood or the upcoming R-rated Batman: The Killing Joke, we must be honest in saying that the character resonates with people of all ages and, therefore, movies appealing to the younger crowd are much needed. On September 13, Batman Unlimited: Mech vs. Mutants aims to fill that void when it arrives on DVD. As of now, no Blu-Ray release date has been given, but we will keep you posted.

As of now, no Blu-Ray release date has been given, but we’ll keep you posted.

The Batman Unlimited franchise started as a toy line that saw Batman, along with his heroic cohorts and villains, given somewhat futuristic reinterpretations. From that spawned two animated films, Animal Instincts and Monster Mayhem, along with a web series. While they have produced bizarre scenarios such as Batman riding at robotic T-Rex that shoots lasers (albeit in a virtual world), the series has never been disrespectful to the mythos and provides entertaining, imaginative films for its target demographic. The visual homages to Batman Beyond also make for a welcome addition.

While no official plot synopsis has been given, it’s obvious from the trailer that Batman (voiced by Roger Craig Smith) will be forced to deal with some of his deadliest foes such as Mr. Freeze, Penguin, Killer Croc, Bane, and Clayface, who go the way of Kaiju monsters to cause Gotham City a myriad of problems. Yes, it might seem outlandish, but I will again remind you that many kids will likely find the premise highly appealing.

Aside from sporting a mech suit similar to what Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo recently served up in the comic book arc Batman: Superheavy, the Caped Crusader will even the odds when he is joined by fellow heroes like Nightwing, Red Robin, and Green Arrow.

Batman Unlimited: Mech vs. Mutants will premiere on Sunday, July 24 at San Diego Comic-Con.
