Wonder Woman Blu-Ray Gets Release Date, Will Include Extra Scene

For many, Wonder Woman represented a turning point in the DC Extended Universe. With several divisive films preceding it, director Patty Jenkins, lead actress Gal Gadot and the rest of the talented people on either side of the camera put forth their best effort, effectively crafting a superhero experience for the ages that we hope subsequent entries in the line will equal – or even surpass. That said, it’s certainly not hard to see why it recently passed the $400 million mark at the American box office.

What’s doubly satisfying is living in an era when the gap separating theatrical from home video release is shorter than ever. With that, we’re happy to learn that Wonder Woman will be made available via Digital HD on August 29, with Ultra HD Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray and DVD releases set to follow on September 19.

Also of note is that an extra scene will be included, which has been dubbed “Etta’s Mission.” Once you read the description provided for it (seen below), you may very well agree that it may have originally been intended as a post-credits scene. And while we know a sequel is on the way, it’s possible this epilogue had been excised from the theatrical cut as not to be presumptuous of such a thing. Still, we can’t help but recall Jenkins’ earlier statement saying that there were no deleted scenes (let the record show that several extended ones will also be included as supplemental content), so we’ll just keep any possible retort to ourselves.

Anyway, here’s a full rundown of bonus features to be included with the Blu-ray release:

  • Epilogue: Etta’s Mission – Etta Candy gets the boys back together for a secret mission that could impact humanity’s future.
  • Crafting the Wonder – Wonder Woman finally comes to life in her first, breathtaking solo film. Explore the journey to create an adventure worthy of DC’s greatest warrior.
