Warner Brothers Home Entertainment will be bringing Stephen Daldry‘s latest film, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, to Blu-Ray in March. The film stars Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock and Thomas Horn.

The 9/11 family drama centers on Oskar Schell, an annoying young boy that goes on a journey around New York City in hopes of finding more details about a mysterious key his father left him after dying in the Trade Center bombings. I have nothing against family dramas or films about troubled young souls that have to cope with family deaths, but using 9/11 as a backdrop simply to wring the maximum amount of tears and empathy from the audience is just wrong.

The film isn’t worthy of its Academy Award praise and I feel that it’s only getting recognized because of the touchy subject material it deals with. The performances are fine, but the story isn’t all that heartfelt.

The Blu-Ray/DVD/UltraViolet digital copy combo pack will be presented in 1080p with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. Here’s a confirmed list of the four behind-the-scenes featurettes that are included on the disc.

  • Finding Oskar
  • Ten Years Later
  • Max von Sydow: Dialogues with The Renter

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close will street on March 27th, 2012.

I'm an avid watcher of films and I just love discussing and sharing them with the world. I enjoy horror, sci-fi and mostly any genre under the sun, plus I have a slight obsession with Blu-ray's and the whole high definition craze.
