Anchor Bay has announced the Mother’s Day remake, directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, for release in May. The remake of the cult-classic 1980’s film stars Frank Grillo, Shawn Ashmore, Jamie King and Rebecca DeMornay.
I didn’t even know this remake existed. I heard about Darren Lynn Bousman being attached to the film in some way, but I didn’t know that he actually went ahead and directed it. That’s usually never a good sign, because small horror projects like this rely on the strong word of mouth.
After watching the trailer I can say that the film doesn’t look nearly as bad as it sounds. Still, it doesn’t look all that memorable. It would probably make for a decent rental though.
The Blu-Ray disc will be presented in 1080p with a 5.1 Dolby TrueHD Master Audio track. There’s only one special feature confirmed.
