Fox will be bringing the war film Act of Valor, featuring real-life active Navy SEALs, to Blu-Ray in June.

Act of Valor was originally intended to be a short commercial, advertising the Navy SEALs, but filmmakers Mike McCoy and Scott Waugh took it a step further and attempted to make an action film.

Stripping away the patriotic heroism and obvious slanted views, Act of Valor doesn’t really work as a structured film. The story is very light, the camerawork is distraught and while the general message is good the actual film is of poor quality. Most will bash anyone that doesn’t like the film, saying something about not appreciating America’s soldiers, but what they seem to forget is Act of Valor is a MOVIE.

Yes, it’s a great display of the sacrifices our nation’s soldiers go through to make sure we live in freedom, but that doesn’t mean we have to ignore the borderline soap-opera dialogue delivery and sloppy filmmaking. In the end of the day Act of Valor still manages to only be a commercial, nothing more and nothing less.

Our very own David Wangberg had this to say about the film in his review.

Act of Valor is poor filmmaking and ironically, it does more bad than good for our brave and fearless SEALs.

Fox will be bringing the film to Blu-Ray in a Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack. The film will be presented in 1080p with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. The following special features have been confirmed:

  • Director commentary
  • Deleted scenes
  • Blu-Ray Exclusive: Directors’ introduction, interviews with the seven Navy SEALs that starred in the film, 4 behind-the-scenes featurettes, Music video and a Making-of featurette for the music video

Act of Valor will hit Blu-Ray shelves on June 5th, 2012.

I'm an avid watcher of films and I just love discussing and sharing them with the world. I enjoy horror, sci-fi and mostly any genre under the sun, plus I have a slight obsession with Blu-ray's and the whole high definition craze.
