Lionsgate has announced the latest film by Jennifer Westfeldt, Friends with Kids, for Blu-Ray in July.

Jennifer Westfeldt‘s Friends with Kids is an even split of smartly written comedy and drama. It starts out kind of light, full of jokes and laughter, but then as the story progresses so does the characters.

Most films drop the ball when switching gears like this, but Friends with Kids manages to stick to its guns and remain fun and enjoyable, despite an occasionally long scene that only delays the inevitable.

Westfeldt stars in the film alongside Adam Scott, Kristen Wiig, Jon Hamm, Maya Rudolph, Chris O’Dowd and Megan Fox. Yes; a majority of that cast list is from Bridesmaids.

Our very own Kristal Cooper had this to say about the film in her review:

Ultimately Friends With Kids is an unconventional family drama that uses conventional romantic comedy clichés to make its point. That may seem weird, but just like the film’s central non-traditional relationship it all ends up working out just fine indeed.

Friends with Kids will be presented in 1080p with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. The following special features have been confirmed:

  • Commentary with writer/director/actress Jennifer Westfeldt, actor/producer Jon Hamm, and director of photography Will Rexer II
  •  Behind-the-scenes featurette
  •  Deleted scenes with optional audio commentary
  •  Gag reel

Friends with Kids will street on July 17th, 2012.

I'm an avid watcher of films and I just love discussing and sharing them with the world. I enjoy horror, sci-fi and mostly any genre under the sun, plus I have a slight obsession with Blu-ray's and the whole high definition craze.
