Margaret Announced For Blu-Ray In July

Fox has announced the long-delayed film Margaret, starring Anna Paquin and Mark Ruffalo, for Blu-Ray in July.

Director Kenneth Lonergan‘s Margaret has had a long and troubled path getting to release. It was filmed and completed back in 2005 and since then he’s had a rough time getting his cut of the film in the hands of the audience. The film received a small and disappointing limited release late last year and now Fox will be releasing the theatrical cut as well as an extended version on Blu-Ray this summer.

The film stars Anna Paquin, Mark Ruffalo and Matt Damon and even though the trailer looks decent at best I really am looking forward to finally checking it out.

Our very own Amy Curtis had a chance to see the film and she wasn’t all that pleased. Here’s what she said in her review:

Margaret ended up being directionless and bleak. It went on far too long, and the editing was disorganized and sometimes jarring, not to mention the senseless subplots thrown in and then dumped without resolution. Margaret had an unsatisfying whimper of an ending that hardly justified the two plus hours of screaming/crying drama, and its supposed artistic merit remains a mystery to me.

The film will be presented in 1080p with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. What’s interesting about this title is the extended version will be available on a DVD included in the packaging and not the Blu-Ray itself.

Margaret will be available to own on Blu-Ray exclusively through Amazon.com on July 10th, 2012.
