Lionsgate Announces Casa De Mi Padre For Blu-Ray In July

The Spanish Will Ferrell comedy Casa de mi Padre will be hitting Blu-Ray in July. I've always enjoyed Will Ferrell as an actor because he's not afraid to take risks. Sometimes those risks don't pan out and sometimes they do. His brand of comedy isn't my favorite, but I do enjoy watching him in something like Casa de mi Padre. In the film he plays a Spanish rancher that seeks revenge on a dangerous drug cartel that has brought corruption to the land.

In July Lionsgate will bring the Will Ferrell starring Spanish comedy Casa de mi Padre to Blu-Ray.

I’ve always enjoyed Will Ferrell as an actor because he’s not afraid to take risks. Sometimes those risks don’t pan out and sometimes they do. His brand of comedy isn’t my favorite, but I do enjoy watching him in something like Casa de mi Padre. In the film he plays a Spanish rancher that seeks revenge on a dangerous drug cartel that has brought corruption to the land.

Casa de mi Padre isn’t the funniest film, but it surely is a weird one. Everything is played out straight-forward, but it still pokes fun at the genre. I like how it never compromises the gimmick and stays true to it until the very end. It’s an enjoyable little film and I’m sure it will gain cult status on home video.

Our very own Kristal Cooper had this to say about the film in her review:

Unfortunately for Casa de mi Padre there’s a very fine line between smart-stupid and slapdash-stupid. Ferrell and the gang attempt to compensate for their undercooked idea with one too many self-satisfied wink-wink-nudge-nudge moments that are supposedly in jokes for those who “get it.” Newsflash boys: in the words of Armando’s father: “If you were truly smart, you’d know that you are dumb.”

The disc will be presented in 1080p with a 5.1 DTS-HD Spanish (with English subtitles) Master Audio track. The following special features have been confirmed:

  • Commentary with Matt Piedmont, writer/producer Andrew Steele, and Will Ferrell
  •  Behind-the-scenes featurette
  •  Actor Pedro Armendáriz Jr.’s final interview
  •  Four “Commerciales” starring Will Ferrell, Diego Luna, Genesis Rodriguez, Efren Ramirez, and Nick Offerman
  •  “Fight for Love” music video performed by Will Ferrell and Genesis Rodriguez
  •  Deleted scenes

Casa de mi Padre will be available for purchase on July 17th, 2012.

I'm an avid watcher of films and I just love discussing and sharing them with the world. I enjoy horror, sci-fi and mostly any genre under the sun, plus I have a slight obsession with Blu-ray's and the whole high definition craze.
