‘Blue Lock Episode Nagi’ release date, trailer, cast, plot and more

Time to get excited, folks!

It didn’t take long at all for Blue Lock to become one of the most beloved soccer anime series in current times. The manga began serialization in 2018, and only four years later, the anime adaptation hit the screens, to the delight of fans around the globe.

Needless to say, its first season went a long way in helping increase the series’ popularity, and by now, Blue Lock is firmly established as one of the best sports anime of all time, even influencing the projects of mainstream, international celebrities. With this much success, it came as no surprise when the anime was renewed for a second season. What most fans didn’t expect, however, was for the series to get its first spin-off movie announced, as well. Blue Lock Episode Nagi will be an adaptation of the series spin-off manga by the same author, Muneyuki Kaneshiro, focusing on the talented Seishiro Nagi.

The announcement came in March 2023, so for months, we’ve been keeping their eyes peeled for any new information about the film. Thankfully, now we have plenty of it to chew on.

What will Blue Lock Episode Nagi be about?

In August 2023, Blue Lock‘s Japanese website released a teaser trailer for the movie, which was later shared on YouTube. In it, fans get a glimpse of what the animation and art style for Episode Nagi will look like, as well as a peek into what its focus will be. The movie will showcase Nagi Seishiro’s origin story, portraying his life before he enters the Blue Lock facility and, of course, diving deeper into his dynamic with Reo Mikage, who discovered his talent for soccer and inspired him to become the best. Needless to say, for Nagi fans, this film will be a guaranteed hit.

When does Blue Lock Episode Nagi come out?

Get excited, because it won’t take long until Episode Nagi makes its debut in international theaters. The film premiered in Japan on Apr. 19, and will be released in multiple other countries starting June 27. For your convenience, here is a list of all the confirmed release dates already for this movie:

Shimazaki Nobunaga will be reprising his role as Nagi for the film, and he’ll be accompanied by several other voice actors whose voices Blue Lock fans will be familiar with. The main cast will include anime start such as:

It’s likely that Blue Lock Episode Nagi will make its way to streaming platforms in due time, but nothing can compare to the theater experience, so make sure to grab your ticket as soon as possible. After you watch the movie, though, you can always give some other sports anime a try. There are plenty of great titles out there for you to enjoy.
