Sony has officially announced the Blu-Ray release of the Aubrey Plaza-starring indie sci-fi film Safety Not Guaranteed for October.

Independent dramas are a dime a dozen, but ones that successfully manage to create something spectacular between multiple genres (sci-fi, comedy, romance, drama) are rare. Colin Trevorrow’s Safety Not Guaranteed is one of those rare films that breaks the mold and becomes something almost amazing. It’s just shy of amazing actually, but it almost gets there thanks to its performances by leads Aubrey Plaza and Mark Duplass.

I had minor problems with the film’s overall lasting impact, but I still enjoyed it from start to finish, especially the ending.

Our very own Jonathan R. Lack sums it up best in his review:

Safety Not Guaranteed is an excellent comedy, one with tons of heart, great characters, and tremendous performances from Aubrey Plaza and Mark Duplass.

The Blu-Ray will come with the following bonus content:

  • A Movie Making Mission Featurette – providing a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film with director Colin Trevorrow and various cast members.
  • The Ad Behind the Movie Featurette – a look at the original ad that inspired the movie.
  • Time Capsule-Easter Egg

Safety Not Guaranteed will street on October 30th, 2012.

I'm an avid watcher of films and I just love discussing and sharing them with the world. I enjoy horror, sci-fi and mostly any genre under the sun, plus I have a slight obsession with Blu-ray's and the whole high definition craze.
