Fox Searchlight will be bringing Sacha Gervasi‘s Hitchcock to Blu-Ray in March. The film stars Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren and Scarlett Johansson.
I’m often most-interested in films about actual filmmakers, because it gives us a look at their personal life, while also mingling with their professional ones. Sacha Gervasi’s Hitchcock was billed as a film about the behind-the-scenes making-of one of Alfred Hitchcock’s most notorious films, Psycho. The actuality of the film is one about the personal and working relationship between Hitch and his wife Alma, played perfectly by Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren.
The two shed new light on two of Hollywood’s biggest influences and the result is a fairly positive one. There wasn’t one thing that I absolutely loved about the film, but I couldn’t point out too much that I didn’t care for. It just works and exists as an interesting look at two people that helped change the landscape of movie-making forever. It’s not incredibly deep or rich full of new content, but it’s a good effort.

Alternatively devilish, wry, soulful, and witty, Hitchcock presents a singing celebration of one of cinema’s great unsung collaborations. The last fifteen minutes are glorious ~ I’ll say no more (but look forward to seeing them again).
Technical specifications haven’t been officially revealed for the film just yet, but we can expect a 1080p video transfer, a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track and perhaps a DVD/Digital Copy to be bundled with the Blu-Ray disc.
Hitchcock will be available to own on March 12th, 2013.
