Fox Announces Safe Haven For Blu-Ray In May

I'm no Nicholas Sparks hater or anything. I just dislike bad romances. The Notebook will forever remain one of my favorite romances, yet Safe Haven will forever remain one of the worst. This soul-less Nicholas Sparks adaptation plays out just like the bulk of them, with two unlikable characters forming a relationship out of troubled pasts.

Fox has announced the latest Nicholas Sparks adaptation Safe Haven for Blu-Ray in May. The film stars Josh Duhamel, Cobie Smulders and Julianne Hough.

I’m no Nicholas Sparks hater or anything.

What doesn’t work at all this time around is the star power, which is no match when looking at Sparks’ other leads: Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams and even to some extent Channing Tatum.

Duhamel and Hough just don’t have that natural chemistry like the rest of his films usually do and that makes Safe Haven become a suffering disaster from the opening credits up until the film’s bat-shit insane “twist” ending.

Safe Haven will no-doubt be quickly forgotten as Sparks prepares yet another novel for the big screen.

Our very own Ben Kenber had this to say about the film in his review:

Safe Haven is nothing more than a rip-off of Sleeping With The Enemy, and it strands its strong cast in a story that is manipulative, convoluted and unintentionally hilarious.

The film will be coming to Blu-Ray with a 1080p video transfer, a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. No bonus material has been confirmed just yet, aside from the traditional inclusion of a DVD and digital copy.

Safe Haven will hit shelves on May 7th, 2013.

I'm an avid watcher of films and I just love discussing and sharing them with the world. I enjoy horror, sci-fi and mostly any genre under the sun, plus I have a slight obsession with Blu-ray's and the whole high definition craze.
