20th Century Fox has divulged new details on the upcoming Blu-Ray release of Alejandro González Iñárritu’s critically-adorned drama, Birdman.
Due for release come February 17 on the format, the Blu-Ray will also contain a selection of special features that take you behind the mind of Iñárritu and how he created what turned out to be one of the best, most refreshing cinematic experiences of last year. Amongst that bonus content in question is a conversation with the director alongside the film’s lead star, Michael Keaton, not to mention a gallery of on-set photos. Granted, it may not be the most comprehensive of Blu-Rays, but given the sheer quality of Birdman, it’s exciting to learn of these behind-the-scenes additions.
For the uninitiated, Alejandro González Iñárritu’s atypical production follow Keaton’s Riggan Thomson, an actor who was once on the top of his game as the titular superhero but is now left to scramble for meaningful work. During the course of Birdman, Riggan walks the plank in a play that he is producing, directing and starring in, but it is the way in which the filmmaker utilizes the emphatic long takes and one-two, almost rhythmical dialogue that will make the story linger in your mind long after the credits roll.
