This October signals the release of a Halloween movie unlike any other.
Whereas before we slogged through one derivative sequel after another, Blumhouse and David Gordon Green have crafted their horror film in such a way that it honors John Carpenter’s original classic… and little else. It’s due to light up theaters in October, but there’s another Halloween-themed product about to release into the wild as well. We’ll give you a clue: Rob Zombie.
Yes, the director’s own unique spin on Michael Myers is finally getting a Blu-ray steelbook, and it’s coming sooner than you think. As spotted by the good folks at Dread Central, Amazon has listed the 2007 horror pic for a Blu-ray release on October 2nd, meaning you’ll be able to get in the spirit of all things Haddonfield before the real deal arrives three weeks later.
Feast thy eyes:
Written and directed by Rob Zombie himself, who’s currently hard at work on another horror flick in the form of 3 From Hell, this particular Halloween remake starred Malcolm McDowell, Scout Taylor-Compton, Sheri Moon Zombie, Danielle Harris, Brad Dourif, Kristina Klebe, Dee Wallace, Tyler Mane and Daeg Faerch.
Nearly two decades after being committed to a mental institution for killing his stepfather and older sister, Michael Myers (Tyler Mane) breaks out, intent on returning to the town of Haddonfield, Ill. He arrives in his hometown on Halloween with the indomitable purpose of hunting down his younger sister, Laurie (Scout Taylor-Compton). The only thing standing between Michael and a Halloween night of bloody carnage is psychologist Dr. Samuel Loomis (Malcolm McDowell).
Look for Rob Zombie’s Halloween to get its own Blu-ray steelbook on October 2nd (pre-order here) – just in time for the long-anticipated arrival of the 2018 sequel on October 19th.
