That’s how one would describe Marvel’s ongoing Ant-Man franchise, which recently crossed $1 billion worldwide thanks to Peyton Reed’s diminutive sequel.

It’s perhaps the perfect tonic coming out of Avengers: Infinity War and its incredibly bleak finale, not to mention the fact that, in Ant-Man and the Wasp, Evangeline Lilly’s MCU hero is finally given her wings. And not a moment too soon.

Speaking of which, it’s been announced today that Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp, the 20th installment in the MCU and a wonderful expansion of the Quantum Realm, will hit digital platforms on October 2nd, before expanding to home video (read: Blu-ray and DVD) two weeks later.

Feast thy eyes:

A number of high-street retailers, like Best Buy, will be releasing their own special editions of Ant-Man and the Wasp‘s Blu-ray, including Marvel-themed steelbooks and various cover artwork from the studio’s pool of creative talent.

There’s currently no mention of the inevitable bonus content, but we’ve learned in the past that the sequel’s deleted scenes will feature much more of Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and her time spent in the Quantum Realm. It’s the MCU equivalent of a dark and dangerous netherworld, one in which all concepts of time and space become irrelevant, so we’re intrigued to see what Janet got up to in order to while away the hours. Something tells us it may involve a run-in with one of those time vortexes spotted during the post-credits scene…

They’re the biggest heroes of the summer, and on October 2nd, you’ll be able to pick up Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp via digital platforms and the Movies Anywhere program. Two weeks later, it’ll then become available on Blu-ray and DVD for those who prefer their physical copies.
