There’s plenty of Spider-Man (or should it be Spider-People?) to go around at the moment – Tom Holland in the MCU, Shameik Moore and about 6 other voice actors in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, plus who knows who'll appear in the mooted live-action version of that film.
Avengers: Endgame, among many things, appeared to close out the stories of some of the franchise’s biggest characters. I’m going to assume by now you don’t need a spoiler warning for which ones. Fans said goodbye to Iron Man (definitely), Black Widow (sort of), and perhaps most poignantly, Captain America. Chris Evans’ most popular Marvel character (sorry Human Torch) has been a stalwart since his introduction in The First Avenger. Though now firmly departed, that hasn’t stopped fan clamour for a comeback. Would Evans ever consider returning? That question arose in a recent interview on The Graham Norton Show. Here’s what Evans had to say:
There’s a new Kingdom Hearts TV show in development for Disney+, and while not much is known about it just yet, we've now begun to hear a little bit about which worlds and characters could be appearing in the project.
It takes a lot for superhero films to stand out in an age where they proliferate like an infectious disease. But that’s exactly what Logan did in 2017. Hugh Jackman’s final ever outing as Wolverine was lauded for its performances, score, cinematography, script and direction. Yep, more or less the entire production.
Earlier this week, news broke that Superman star Henry Cavill was in talks to return to the DCEU, potentially making appearances in multiple movies. The actor hasn’t had any part in the franchise since his frankly shambolic turn in Justice League back in 2017, an episode we’ll dub Moustache-gate. With no new Superman films in the pipeline then, many had feared his time as Kal-El was up, so it’s naturally gone down well. And Cavill looks pretty game for it, too.
HBO Max has entered the streaming market, with a whole-bunch-o movies at your fingertips from the off. Of course, one of its biggest selling points down the line will be its superhero selection (apparently they’re pretty popular). So, why not give you the rundown on which DC films are currently available on the service? There's no reason not to.
Warner Bros. have joined the streaming bandwagon with today’s launch of their in-house service HBO Max. The newest kid on the block will have a huge library of content available for viewing, with big names including Joker, The Lord of the Rings and The Matrix to name a few. But there are few bigger than Harry Potter, a beloved franchise that looked set to be missing from the launch line-up due to a previous licensing arrangement with NBC Universal.
Chris Evans was a relative unknown when he was cast as Captain America back in 2010. Though not a complete stranger to the public or to the superhero genre, the part was nevertheless a life-changing break for him. To date, the character's appeared in 11 films, fronted his own billion-dollar franchise and had a major role in the highest-grossing film of all time. Yep, life-changing covers it.
