The potential of The Flash for bringing together different parts of the DC multiverse means that we could see a lot of familiar faces in the movie. In recent weeks, we've heard reports that everyone from Danny DeVito to Arnold Schwarzenegger and Christian Bale might end up making cameos in the timeline-hopping film. And with Michael Keaton expected to return as the Dark Knight, we could also be getting another appearance by Michelle Pfeiffer as the Batman Returns version of Catwoman.
Since being released yesterday, the Godzilla vs. Kong trailer has certainly generated excitement among fans looking forward to the monster mashup. Close examination of the footage has already revealed the possible appearance of a classic franchise character, while Kong's new weapon and powers have been explained. One of the more significant reveals from the promo, though, is how the Titan leaves Skull Island to take on Godzilla.
We finally received the trailer for Godzilla vs. Kong today, which promises an epic battle between the two titans. The movie will arrive in theaters and on HBO Max on March 26th, following multiple delays and obviously, fans are already very excited about the preview. In fact, some eagle-eyed viewers have now claimed that we get a glimpse of Mechagodzilla in the footage, the creature's robotic doppelgänger.
As usual, there are plenty of streaming choices to enjoy across different VOD platforms this weekend, including some intriguing-looking movies. Highlights are the documentary Welcome to Chechnya, drama Our Friend, as well as Western No Man's Land and some choice genre picks. What, then, do these titles have to offer, and are they worth checking out as a rental or purchase?
We're finally getting some more details on Jason Reitman's Ghostbusters: Afterlife, with the much-anticipated sequel now expected to arrive on screens in June this year. A few days ago, we received images of the new, younger recruits taking on the supernatural, as well as reports that original franchise director Ivan Reitman cried upon seeing his son's work. Now, a new clip has emerged of one of the ghost designs for the movie, showing Muncher, a Slimer-like spirit.
Netflix tends to bring out a few new features for subscribers each year, typically after testing and introducing them in limited markets or on certain devices. Several months back, we learned that the online giant were working on a "Shuffle Play" tool that uses your viewing history to select something for you to watch, potentially reducing time spent trying to make a choice. And now, the platform have confirmed that they'll be rolling out "Shuffle Play" to worldwide users during the first half of 2021.
Star Trek: Discovery's recently concluded third run set up a lot of big questions about the future of the galaxy, albeit without always answering them in a satisfying way. CBS All Access are clearly keen on the program, though, with more instalments already being planned for the next few years. And according to a new social media post, season 4 is likely to cover the rebuilding of the Federation.
This week is set to be another busy one for Netflix, as the online giant continues to grow its library of content. In total, we'll be getting thirteen new movies and television shows to keep us occupied, including the second season of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, and the intriguing-sounding docuseries Spycraft, which explores real-life espionage devices. What, then, do we have to look forward to between January 18th and 24th?
For a while, it seemed that Swamp Thing fans could reasonably hope that the single season show might be revived on The CW, after it was aired on the network last year. There certainly appeared to be a big marketing push behind the series, which was originally part of DC Universe, and there was talk of HBO Max being open to continuing production. However, reports are now coming out that a new season of Swamp Thing is unlikely, although Mark Pedowitz, the chairman and CEO of The CW, has indicated a possible return for the character in other ways.
