I’ll admit that the original trilogy still holds up well. They’re not great films, but they’re enjoyable. Once Universal started pumping out sequel after sequel though, I became tired of the series as a whole.

Plus, none of the straight-to-DVD sequels had the original cast members, besides Eugene Levy (you can’t blame the guy for an easy paycheck), so I stayed as far away as possible.

The Blu-Rays couldn’t have come at a better time though. Now, you can touch up on the series and re-watch all three films, followed by American Reunion, which actually looks kind of good in nostalgic 90’s way.

Official specs haven’t been released yet, but one would assume 1080p transfers with 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio tracks. Universal does mention Movie Cash though, which is great for fans excited for the new film.

The American Pie trilogy will be hitting Blu-Ray on March 13th, 2012.

I'm an avid watcher of films and I just love discussing and sharing them with the world. I enjoy horror, sci-fi and mostly any genre under the sun, plus I have a slight obsession with Blu-ray's and the whole high definition craze.
