As part of its 100th anniversary, Universal Studios will be releasing Born on the Fourth of July on Blu-Ray in July.
Oliver Stone‘s Vietnam War film Born on the Fourth of July, starring Tom Cruise; as a soldier turned antiwar activist was a critical success at the 1990 Oscars, winning Best Director and Best Film Editing.
I’ve actually never seen the film, but I plan on checking it out when it hits stores. Oliver Stone tends to make hit or miss films, which means I’ll have to approach it with caution. I’m also not the biggest Tom Cruise fan prior to the late 90’s and 2000’s, but that hasn’t stopped me from enjoying a lot of his films.
The Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack will be presented in 1080p with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. The following special features have been confirmed:
- Commentary with Oliver Stone
- Â Backstory: Born on the Fourth of July archival documentary
- Â Two 100 Years of Universal featurettes
Born on the Fourth of July will hit shelves on July 3rd, 2012.
