In many ways, Brie Larson’s triumphant Oscar win was foretold long before Lenny Abrahamson’s Room released in theaters. Lifted from Emma Donoghue’s best-selling novel of the same name, Room also stars Joan Allen, Sean Bridgers, and William H. Macy. Nevertheless, Abrahamson’s rendition is ultimately about the timeless bond between mother-and-son, and how that can transcend even the most harrowing of circumstances.
