Sony Bringing Parker To Blu-Ray In May

Parker is exactly the type of Jason Statham action picture you'd probably skip in theaters and rent via Redbox or Netflix. And that's mostly a fair assessment of the film, aside from the third act's action, which is brief but really well filmed.

Sony has announced the latest Jason Statham action film Parker for Blu-Ray in May. The film also stars Jennifer Lopez and Nick Nolte.

Parker is exactly the type of Jason Statham action picture you’d probably skip in theaters and rent via Redbox or Netflix. And that’s mostly a fair assessment of the film, aside from the third act’s action, which is brief but really well filmed.

See, Statham has already made a name for himself and built a fan base around making these types of flicks, which are short on plot and high on action. Parker isn’t exactly much different than the rest, but it does work a little more thanks to the somewhat engaging chemistry between Statham and Jennifer Lopez.

The two make Parker something that I wouldn’t be against suggesting a theatrical visit for, even if ticket prices are so damn high. Parker isn’t as big and explosive as some of Statham’s other films, but it’s bloody, it’s got action and it’s got that Statham charm that’ll win you over in a second.

Our very own Ben Kebner had this to say about the film in his official review:

Parker turns out to be a big letdown as it brings nothing new to the crime thriller genre, and it is not likely to stay with you long after the credits have finished.

The film comes to Blu-Ray with the following confirmed bonus material:

  • Audio Commentary with Director Taylor Hackford
  • Featurettes:
    • Bringing the Hunter to Life: The Making of Parker
    • Who is Parker?
    • The Origin of Parker (Blu-ray exclusive)
    • Broken Necks and Bloody Knuckles (Blu-ray exclusive)

Parker will be available for purchase online or in stores on May 21st, 2013.

I'm an avid watcher of films and I just love discussing and sharing them with the world. I enjoy horror, sci-fi and mostly any genre under the sun, plus I have a slight obsession with Blu-ray's and the whole high definition craze.
