With a few weeks left to go until the release of Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, DC All Access has really been spoiling us as of late with videos pertaining to the next addition to DC’s stellar line of animated films. Just days ago, they spoke with Kari Wahlgren in order to gain some insight into her character of Starfire and, now, it’s director Sam Liu’s turn to talk.

In a chat with Whitney Moore, the fan favorite filmmaker reaffirmed that this adaptation of the beloved comic book written by Marv Wolfman and illustrated by George Perez is faithful to the source material, as everyone has been doing when given the chance. But with any project such as this, certain details may have to be streamlined for mainstream audiences or, perhaps, due to the constraints that come with having to shoot for a specific running time (these babies normally run around 75 minutes).

As such, we should expect to see Terra hit the ground running with not much room for an elaborate backstory, knowing that all we’ve previously seen of her in this continuity was a mid-credits scene in Justice League vs. Teen Titans. Still, it’s not very often these creators steer us wrong, and when you factor in that Christina Ricci is voicing the morally conflicted character, well, that only instills more confidence. Apparently, Liu agrees with that notion, as he went on to say how he’s always been a fan of hers and that she was great to work with.

Teen Titans: The Judas Contract will be made available via Digital HD on April 4, with the Blu-ray and DVD releases following on April 18. Or, if you happen to be at WonderCon next weekend, you can catch the world premiere.
