Sony has announced the romantic drama The Vow, starring Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams, for Blu-Ray this May.

The Vow follows a young couple as they struggle to re-piece their relationship after a serious car accident that’s left the wife without any recent memories. Channing Tatum continues to play the heartthrob character that the ladies love, while Rachel McAdams treads familiar waters with another innocent role as the confused wife.

The film did very well in theaters, opening in February with an impressive $41 million dollars. I wish the quality would have reflected the box office total, because the film was another by-the-books romantic drama that only mildly works because of Tatum and McAdams’ performances. They both provide the meat and bones for Michael Sucsy‘s lacking story.

Our very own Kristal Cooper had this to say about the film in her review.

Ultimately The Vow works well enough to adequately satisfy anyone looking for a fluffy date or girls’ night bauble that doesn’t tax the brain or cause you to embarrass yourself by audibly blubbering into your popcorn (that’s best left to the latest Nicholas Sparks adaptation, out this spring), but not unlike Paige and Leo’s courtship, it’s simply not memorable enough to make it a movie worth recommending.

The Vow will be presented in a Blu-Ray/DVD/UltraViolet combo pack with a 1080p video transfer and a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. The following bonus material has been confirmed:

  • Commentary
  • Deleted Scenes
  • 3 Behind-the-scenes featurettes
  • Gag reel

The Vow will street on May 8th, 2012.

I'm an avid watcher of films and I just love discussing and sharing them with the world. I enjoy horror, sci-fi and mostly any genre under the sun, plus I have a slight obsession with Blu-ray's and the whole high definition craze.
