Fans have patiently biding their time waiting for the next chapter in the Halloween franchise to arrives, with David Gordon Green’s Halloween Kills finally coming to theaters twelve months later than expected. It’s looking to be another huge hit for the rejuvenated property, but for those who can’t wait that long, something special is on the way to home video.
Scream Factory has announced that Halloween, Halloween II, Halloween III: Season of the Witch, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers are coming to Blu-Ray and 4K this coming September. As well as remastered versions of the first five installments, each movie comes packaged with a slew of old and new special features alike.
Some of the highlights include audio commentaries with the cast and crew, behind the scenes featurettes, extended cuts, making-of documentaries, insights into the makeup and effects team’s contributions, all garnished with pristine visual and audio quality. As one of the most popular horror brands of all-time, there’s going to be a massive number of fans keen to get their hands on the five-film Halloween set on September 28th, especially when it’s coming just in time for the spookiest season.
Presumably, the entire Michael Myers back catalogue will be getting the same treatment eventually, depending on whether or not Halloween finds itself caught up in any of the legal, theatrical, contractual or distributive red tape that’s blighted Friday the 13th for well over a decade now that prevents the whole saga from getting restored and re-released. Either way, five is more than enough to get started, especially with Halloween Kills lurking just around the corner.
