Specifically, the Blu-ray of Adam Robitel’s prequel-sequel will see a release in early April – two weeks after its Digital HD premiere on March 20th. It’s also packed to the rafters with bonus content, including an alternate ending and never-before-seen deleted scenes of the franchise’s fourth installment.

Chronologically speaking, The Last Key slots between Insidious and Insidious: Chapter Two on the timeline, and below you’ll notice that one of the bonus features sheds light on Elise Rainier and her integral role in the horror series. It’ll likely be placed on ice after The Last Key, though, and that’s despite the fact that Robitel’s follow-up delivered a marked improvement over Insidious: Chapter 3.

Here’s confirmation of those special features:

Insidious: The Last Key comes packed with never-before-seen special features, including an alternate ending, more than 20 minutes of chilling additional scenes, a franchise recap and three all-new featurettes.

“Becoming Elise” delves into the mythology of Elise’s origin story and how this ‘sequel to the prequel’ fits into the Insidious-franchise.

“Going into the Further” examines what the Further represents to the cast and crew and how the production design in the film differs from the previous films.

“Unlocking Keyface” introduces fans to the newest iconic demon in the Insidious-franchise and explores the symbolism behind its creation.

Our resident horror fiend Matt Donato was also less-than-impressed with The Last Key, writing that “though [it’s] not a terrible film, Insidious: The Last Key fails to live up to the franchise’s high standards.”

Look for Adam Robitel’s prequel-sequel to hit Digital HD first on March 20th before expanding to Blu-ray and DVD two weeks later (pre-order here). And if you’re wanting to go all-in and experience every inch of The Further, The Last Key will also be available as part of the Insidious 4-Movie Collection.
