First Look At Justice League Vs. The Fatal Five Revealed With New Video

When Justice League vs. The Fatal Five was first announced as being part of DC's 2019 animated movie slate at last summer's San Diego Comic-Con, I admittedly wasn't as excited for it as other gestating projects because it'd sort of been overshadowed by other things such as the long-awaited Batman: Hush adaptation. But now that more details are making their way online, my interest grows exponentially.

If you’re wondering why you should also be swayed, the first thing you need to know is that this picture won’t merely be another sequel to Justice League: War. Enjoyable as (most) of those New 52-inspired flicks have proven to be, there’s something so satisfying to learn that we’re now getting a spiritual followup to the beloved Justice League Unlimited animated series because, as you may have read a few weeks ago, Kevin Conroy, George Newbern and Susan Eisenberg will reprise their respective roles as Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman.

Now, even more information has been brought to light via the sneak peek featurette set to be included on the Reign of the Supermen Blu-ray due out on January 29th. During this video package (check it out at the top of this article), we see the Trinity return to Bruce Timm’s sleek designs from JLU, but they’ve brought some new friends with them.

If said video didn’t hammer home the point enough, Green Lantern Jessica Cruz (Diane Guerrero) will receive a fair amount of screentime, which is just fine with me. Even though she was created for the comics only a few years ago, it’s nice seeing her getting more mainstream exposure. Plus, incorporating her personal battles with crippling anxiety should add much depth to the piece.

Rounding out the eclectic super group will be Mr. Terrific (Kevin Michael Richardson), Miss Martian (Daniela Bobadilla) and Star Boy (Elyes Gabel). If you’d like to see more of them – including the Trinity – be sure to peruse the accompanying gallery that’s slowly growing.

Right now, Justice League vs. The Fatal Five lacks a release date, though an April or May debut is expected.
