SUICIDE SQUAD

10 Scenes You Need To See In Suicide Squad’s Extended Cut

After months and months of growing hype, Suicide Squad finally arrived in August and was met with... critical derision and widespread disappointment from fans. Instead of the super-fun spectacle that the trailers promised, the movie was a muddled hot mess. There just seemed to be too many key story and character beats missing for it to work. Something which was proven to be true when it was revealed that Suicide Squad had been entirely recut late in the day. Oh well, fans thought, at least we have the Extended Cut to save the movie, right?

A popular scene from the trailers was the moment where the squad take a breather and get some drinks at a bar, handed out by Harley. Many were surprised, then, when it wasn’t in the theatrical cut as advertised. Thankfully, the extended version re-inserts this scene, and it’s as fun as you’d hoped it would be – even if we’ve already seen the best bit (Diablo orders a water and Harley agrees that “that’s a good idea, honey.”) Still, some interesting character moments come out of the elongated scene.

First of all, Killer Croc initially refuses a drink as it “dulls the mind.” Then, Deadshot toasts to honour amongst thieves, which causes Boomerang to announce that he sees himself as an “asset relocation specialist.” Finally, Diablo has another outburst, as he chastises Deadshot for thinking that he would get to see his daughter again. It’s a decent moment, as it further hints at the pain he feels at losing his own wife and children.
