SUICIDE SQUAD

10 Scenes You Need To See In Suicide Squad’s Extended Cut

After months and months of growing hype, Suicide Squad finally arrived in August and was met with... critical derision and widespread disappointment from fans. Instead of the super-fun spectacle that the trailers promised, the movie was a muddled hot mess. There just seemed to be too many key story and character beats missing for it to work. Something which was proven to be true when it was revealed that Suicide Squad had been entirely recut late in the day. Oh well, fans thought, at least we have the Extended Cut to save the movie, right?

6) Rick Loves June

For some reason, it was Deadshot and Flag’s interactions that were hit the hardest in the severed theatrical cut. As well as the scene we just mentioned, another sequence that features the pair bonding is seen in the extended version for the first time. In addition to furthering the duo’s growing mutual respect for one another, it also allows for a little more substance to Rick and June’s love story – something that was hugely undercooked in the original cut.

After the group has reformed and is heading out to the big showdown with Enchantress and Incubus, Rick takes the time to explain to Deadshot how June turned his world upside down. He says he never believed in love… “until I met June.”

It’s significant that he’s telling this to Deadshot, as we know that the assassin had a similar change of heart himself. Despite his claims to Harley earlier in the movie that he’s never felt love, we know that he lives to see his daughter again.

Along with Harley, El Diablo calling the gang his “family” and even Boomerang’s crush on Katana, it seems that many of the Suicide Squad are mushier than you might expect for a bunch of supervillains.
