Should those unsuspecting folks take a chance, they’ll be witness to one of the better superhero sagas to grace airwaves in recent memory. Really, I had nothing but good things to say a few months back after screening the first two episodes prior to their premiere, but even a believer such as myself couldn’t have predicted how solid of a freshman effort was in store.

With that, I’m pleased to say Black Lightning: The Complete First Season will be arriving on Blu-ray and DVD on June 26 (pre-order here), thus allowing us all to retake the journey along with Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams), who’s swiftly becoming one of my favorite superheroes The CW has to offer.

What’s more is that 13 episodes are to be included, therefore you need not be intimidated by the thought of having to binge-watch a longer season. Plus, you have to admit that truncated runs such as this often allow for more tightly written storytelling, with very little room for filler.

As for bonus content, there’s a generous helping of that as well. Here’s the full rundown of supplemental material:

  • Black Lightning Comic-Con panel
  • A Family of Strength
  • Black Lightning Come Visit Georgia
  • Gag Reel
  • Deleted Scenes
