‘The Book of Boba Fett’ becomes an unfortunate scapegoat for ‘The Mandalorian’ season 3’s poor reception

Was 'The Book at Boba Fett' the reason for 'The Mandalorian' season three's poor reception?

The reception for the season three finale of The Mandalorian was very mixed. On one hand, fans received the most wholesome ending compared to what was predicted leading up to the final episode. On the other, not everyone was satisfied with how the season concluded. Unfortunately, this led to The Book of Boba Fett taking the blame for The Mandalorian‘s questionable reception.

Viewers claimed that the reason why season three flopped was due to its story being split between the two Star Wars Disney Plus series. while Boba Fett’s absence was felt in the finale. To recap, bits of The Mandalorian‘s story took place in the other Disney Plus series, so fans claimed that season three just resolved The Book of Boba Fett‘s plotline rather than continuing its own story.

Boba Fett’s absence was a particular sticking point for fans, particularly seeing as rumors and a leaked promo on the official Hong Kong account of The Mandaloiran said otherwise. Fans believed that the character would appear in a post-credit scene like in season two, but that wasn’t the case.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, both the average critic and audience score of The Mandalorian continue to decline as the series progresses. Season three received a critic score of 87 percent and an audience score of 50. In comparison, season two received a 93 percent critic score and a 91 percent audience score. And while there are reports of declining interest in the show, it has been confirmed that season four will enter production sometime this year. Perhaps it could look at the mistakes that season three made and learn from them.
