While we’re all sitting around wondering what the heck’s going on with those Dark Phoenix reshoots, it’s worth reminding everyone that we have other ways to occupy our time when it comes to enjoying movies featuring the X-Men. In fact, True Believers will soon be able to digest three game-changing flicks in the highest resolution available.

You see, on September 25th, Fox will be re-releasing the trilogy that first brought our favorite mutants to the big screen – X-MenX2: X-Men United and X-Men: The Last Stand – as a three-film collection on 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray. And seeing as how it’ll be a combo pack, know that standard Blu-ray discs and digital copies will also be included.

According to Movie Web, supplemental content will consist of “Audio Commentaries, Behind-the-Scenes Footage, Deleted/Extended Scenes, The Mutant Watch, Animatics, Character and Production Design Stills.” In other words, you could probably keep yourself busy for an entire weekend with this bad boy.

These days, it’s highly possible for folks to forget the importance of this trilogy because of how many superhero pictures flood cinemas on an annual basis, but I remember how they were among the first to turn the mainstream on to characters other than just Superman and Batman. Those two icons may be my favorites of the genre, sure, though that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t broaden our horizons.

Truth be told, this does seem like one enticing collection – even for The Last Stand. Flawed as it may be, it’s still a fun action/sci-fi movie when you get down to it. Its two predecessors are most assuredly superior, but the third chapter isn’t a total loss, at least in my view.
