If you're a Netflix subscriber, you're probably not hurting for fantastic new content to binge. This month alone has been absolutely killer, with the service dropping the Charlize Theron action flick The Old Guard alongside a host of classic films like Total Recall, Million Dollar Baby and the original The Karate Kid trilogy. As if that's not enough, the end of July will see the long-awaited second season of the quirky superhero family series The Umbrella Academy, which by itself would make for a worthy month to be a Netflix user.
Netflix is on a roll this month and is absolutely oozing with quality content to devour. Such classic films as the boxing drama Million Dollar Baby and the Tom Hanks romance Sleepless in Seattle have already made their appearance on the platform, and mega-hit The Umbrella Academy will be seeing its second season drop at the end of the month. There was a short drought for a few days, but yesterday brought a few new things to check out, including the Spanish thriller Dark Desire, which will likely appeal to fans of shows such as You.
It can be hard to find someone who doesn't love the adorable sponge that lives in a pineapple under the sea, so it was obviously a real bummer when his newest flick, The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run, was delayed from its original release of February 9th, 2019 all the way to August 2, 2019. It was even more unfortunate when it was then delayed a staggering five more times, eventually landing on August 7th, 2020. Fans were already impatiently waiting to see their favorite Bikini Bottom characters in a new outing, but it didn't take long for even more bad news to roll in, of course.
It's been a good month for Netflix with content like The Old Guard and The Baby-Sitters Club's first season getting rave reviews and winning plenty of media attention. It helps to also have already seen a great collection of classic films land on the service throughout July, too, such as Million Dollar Baby and Schindler's List. We even have the second season of the hit show The Umbrella Academy releasing at the end of the month, so there's clearly no shortage of awesome stuff to keep us all busy.
The legal battle between Johnny Depp and ex-wife Amber Heard has resulted in them both seeing their names dragged through the mud for years now, and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight anytime soon. And if you thought the weird stuff that's come out of court so far was bad, rest assured that it can get stranger and more disgusting than you ever imagined.
Netflix is usually pretty good about keeping their service full to the brim with content for subscribers to tune in to. Just this month has seen the addition of 2015's Poltergeist remake, Charlize Theron action flick The Old Guard, boxing drama Million Dollar Baby, and an often overlooked Tom Hanks film called Cloud Atlas, among many, many others. It's been a busy month for the platform, then, and there's still plenty to come. In fact, today marks the arrival of six brand new things for you to check out.
The Walking Dead showrunner, Angela Kang, has hinted that new allegiances will form from meeting Princess, teasing the introduction of the Commonwealth.

2020 has been one hell of a ride so far, especially with the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. And it's not showing any signs of letting up soon, as global cases have now neared 13 million worldwide, resulting in the deaths of almost 600,000 people. Though many countries have started getting the outbreak under control through extreme shutdowns and an abundance of testing, the United States remains the epicenter of the disease with 3.4 million cases and almost 140,000 deaths. In fact, the country is pretty consistently breaking records for most new cases in a day, and things are only going to keep getting worse for the foreseeable future.
As we inch ever closer to this holiday season, we're going to continue learning more and more about next-gen gaming and the hardware that is going to make it all possible. Microsoft started things off when they revealed their Xbox Series X last December, and they have plans to give gamers a glimpse of their slate of first-party offerings on July 23rd to show off the reasons they feel Xbox is the best place to play. Meanwhile, Sony's well-received PlayStation 5 reveal showed off 26 exciting new games last month and gave everyone their first look at the hardware itself. Sadly, both companies remain engaged in a stand-off with one another over the release date and pricing of their upcoming consoles.
