If Arrowverse producers really intend on making their "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover event feel like it's exploring infinite Earths, then it's in their best interest to expand well beyond the TV shows they've developed. Amazingly, they've been granted permission to do so by tapping into past DC-based series by integrating John Wesley Shipp's Flash into "Elseworlds" last year (we assume that's the role he's playing this fall), not to mention reeling in Smallville alumni such as Tom Welling and Erica Durance for the Crisis itself.
Whenever a new superhero movie begins production, the comic book readers among us can't help wondering which tales influenced the filmmakers. More often than not, writers and directors merely pull inspiration from various stories rather than strictly adapting one specific work. And based on the information recently brought to life, The Suicide Squad will be no different.
The funny thing about TV pilots is that they kind of seem like old news before they even air. Think about it: we see promos with footage taken from them throughout the summertime and most discussion is spent talking about the debut episode in particular. With that, any chance to address the installment to follow comes as a breath of fresh air.
When it was first revealed that Esai Morales would be playing Deathstroke on Titans, some fans were probably saddened because it likely meant that we'd seen the last of Manu Bennett's iteration of the character over on Arrow. But then again, it's pretty difficult to produce a series featuring this particular super group without including the man who's arguably their greatest nemesis, and there was no way to do that without another actor.
Just when you thought casting for "Crisis on Infinite Earths" had finished, the Arrowverse producers manage to pull out even more stops by securing more heroes from the DC Comics pantheon. With fans just now catching their breaths after learning that two Smallville alumni will join the action, them being Tom Welling and Erica Durance, those same viewers must brace themselves because they'll also see a key character making his live action debut in the crossover.
If you have access to social media or happen to know someone who incessantly complains about everything, then you've probably heard claims saying the upcoming Joker movie will inspire violence in the real world. To me, it's kind of weird because many of those same people said in the past that movies, video games and music aren't responsible for anyone's actions, yet they're now saying something to the contrary out of the other side of their mouth.
Even though you probably know Jeffrey Dean Morgan best from one of his iconic roles in The Walking Dead, Supernatural or Watchmen, the geek community has been chomping at the bit to see him suit up as Batman in a Flashpoint movie. And most fortunate for them, the actor himself has gone on record saying he shares the same wish.
With all of the exciting returns we're set to witness over the course of Arrow's eighth and final season, it's somewhat disheartening to think we likely won't enjoy one more appearance to be made by Manu Bennett's Deathstroke. After all, the actor himself recently said he hasn't been approached with an offer.
When it comes to certain movies and subsequent trilogies, you can never be too sure of whether Hollywood will leave them untouched. To be entirely honest, I thought we'd get a full-on remake of the original rather than ever receiving The Matrix 4, but lo and behold, the latter is actually happening.
By now, I think I'm beginning to sound like a broken record by saying how many "firsts" the live action Titans series have given us, but this show is proving to be the gift that keeps on giving. So far, season 2 has left the impression that it'll be even more exciting than the first, and that's saying something.
