Now that Spider-Man is back in the MCU, Marvel wants to get as much out of the character as they can. Though the current deal in place says that the studio can only put him in two movies (that includes Spider-Man 3), president Kevin Feige may have found a way around this.
The new Birds of Prey trailer confirms what most of us already suspected: Harley Quinn and Joker have split up. The toxic romance is officially dead and the titular antihero is heartbroken. Now she's all alone, trying to figure out how to mend her broken heart. In her own words:
With the premiere of Batwoman just a few days away, fans of the popular superhero are really excited to begin watching the series. Lead actress Ruby Rose, however, is already assuming that a large demographic of those people won't like her new show. According to her, this isn't really a show for "white old men." In her own words:
There appears to be little doubt that a lot of people hate Brie Larson's take on Captain Marvel. Countless online petitions to replace the actress with someone else have reached their goals. Some fans are attacking every scene she's in, while others are just opting to digitally remove her from the movies they claim to love. The trolls love reminding everyone how much they loathe the Academy Award-winning performer's take on the superhero, which makes it no surprise that Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman decimated Brie Larson's Captain Marvel in a recent poll conducted by Cosmic Book News.
According to our sources - the same ones who told us Ewan McGregor was returning as Obi-Wan, and that the leads of Ghostbusters 3 would be young teens - Showtime is looking to bring back Agent Cooper and the cult classic horror drama Twin Peaks for at least one more season. Of course, it's expected that David Lynch would return to helm the project as well, along with the majority of the main cast. Though details are still currently being ironed out, the fourth chapter of the acclaimed series would likely premiere in 2020.
It can be debated that Spider-Man: Homecoming is the best movie in the history of the titular character. One of the many bright spots in that film was Donald Glover as Prowler. Now it sounds like the actor/musician may reprise his role in an upcoming feature centered around the anti-villain. According to our sources, Sony is currently in the early stages of developing a live-action Prowler movie set in the Venom cinematic universe.
Yesterday's Spider-Man news definitely has Marvel fans pumped, but Sony fans deserve to be equally as excited. The deal struck between the two sides allows the web-head to star in two more films set in the MCU, while still appearing in franchises that fall under Sony's umbrella. For example, this means that Peter Parker can theoretically star in a future Avengers flick and then pop up in the upcoming Hobgoblin movie a mere month later. Which means that there's a chance that the beloved superhero can potentially make a cameo in Venom 2 next year as well.
It's a glorious week to be a Marvel fan. Spider-Man is officially returning to the MCU for the third installment of his franchise, as well as one other movie set in the same cinematic universe. As of yet, the studio hasn't announced what that second film will be, but sources close to We Got This Covered - the same ones who told us Jonah Hill would have a role in The Batman, that Tom Welling was returning for "Crisis" and that Taskmaster would be the villain of Black Widow - have revealed that the second movie is the next Avengers flick, which will be New Avengers.
It looks like Disney's greed paid off big time. Following Marvel's split with Sony, plenty of angry fans directed their ire at the latter studio. Now, the two sides have struck a deal to keep Peter Parker in the MCU for at least the time being and part of the agreement states that Disney will get 25% of the box office profits from Spider-Man 3, which is 500% more than the percentage they used to haul in for previous installments in the web-head franchise.
Anything that has Jordan Peele's name attached to it should get horror fans excited. When it was announced that he'd be producing a reboot/spiritual sequel to the spooky classic Candyman, anyone who loved the original was over the moon. And their anticipation for the project only grew when it was revealed that, after a great deal of uncertainty, Tony Todd will be in the movie as well.
