When it comes to Batman, there are so many villains to pluck from his comic books that filmmakers could probably make dozens of movies without reusing a single one of them. The problem is that a numerous amount of them are so iconic that nobody can stand to see some absent from the silver screen for too long.
With Supernatural's fifteenth (!) and final season rapidly approaching, I can't be the only longtime fan who'd been impatiently waiting for a new trailer to arrive. The trend in recent years has been to release a sizzle reel of sorts at San Diego Comic-Con, with new footage not being dropped until September or so.
Aside from a synopsis or some such thing, odds are we won't know too much about The Batman's story until opening weekend. Still, that doesn't mean we can't fall back on our comic book collections while boning up before venturing to the nearest cinema.
As you may have heard, director James Gunn very recently put much speculation to bed when revealing the full cast for The Suicide Squad. For months now, we've all been wondering who's staying and who's going, and we finally got some answers.
For those of us eagerly awaiting Task Force X's next mission for the silver screen, the past few months have been quite generous when it came to casting news pertaining to The Suicide Squad. On the other hand, there were some big question marks surrounding certain roles - but we can fortunately put a fair amount of speculation to bed as of today.
If anything, the 1990s played host to a veritable revolution when it came to superhero animation. Though this was something that'd been around since the 1940s, productions had previously been handcuffed by network Standards and Practices like you wouldn't believe. But then the game-changer that was Batman: The Animated Series arrived and the rest was history.
Suffice it to say, the past few weeks have been a wild ride for fans of Spider-Man. In short, Tom Holland's iteration of Webhead was booted from the Marvel Cinematic Universe much earlier than expected. Though all of the specifics haven't been made public, the whole thing basically came down to money following the massive success that was Far From Home. Whether you side with Sony or Disney is up to you, but I think neither is without fault in this situation.
Even though Danny Trejo has appeared in only a few episodes of The Flash, he sure did make an impact. As Breacher, the father of Cisco Ramon's ex-girlfriend, Gypsy, he'd pop up at certain times to make the young STAR Labs scientist poop his pants. Yes, the bounty hunter from another Earth may have been overprotective, but he just wanted what was best for his daughter. Ultimately, he wound up approving of Cisco - in his own special way.
In a way, it still feels weird to talk about Arrow's series finale when the eighth season premiere has yet to even air, but these next few months will fly by before you know it. In fact, episode 8x06 was the most recent installment to have entered production. That said, filming is already further along than one would think.
If any character were to be used as a fine example of how Paul W.S. Anderson's Resident Evil movies unevenly adapted the video games on which they were based, it's most definitely my favorite from the entire franchise: Albert Wesker.
