Whenever each new iteration of the Dark Knight is cast, I'm sure the first thing on everyone's mind is how their costume will look. After that's been addressed, the next item for business is probably how the actor's voice will sound while they're suited up. Although I'm sure a percentage of you reading this are hoping Robert Pattinson will do a spot-on Kevin Conroy impression in The Batman, that likely won't be the case.
With casting news concerning The Batman finally heating up, we've learned who'll be orbiting Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight in recent weeks. To briefly recap, Zoe Kravitz will suit up as the iconic Catwoman, Paul Dano will confound the Caped Crusader at every turn as the Riddler, and Jeffrey Wright will light up the Bat-signal as Commissioner Jim Gordon.
As I've said on numerous occasions, one thing in particular that I'm already liking about "Crisis on Infinite Earths" is that it's incorporating actors from various DC TV shows from the past so that we truly get that "Infinite Earths" feel. Despite a denial from Tom Ellis saying Lucifer Morningstar won't show up, I won't be convinced of his absence until I actually see the crossover for myself. But on the plus side, there is confirmation on Batman '66's Burt Ward and Birds of Prey's Ashley Scott putting in appearances.
As much as I've loved The Flash, it's been well-documented that I didn't really care for season 4. Still, that broadcast year did produce at least a few bright spots, one of them being Danny Trejo's Breacher. Long story short, he was the interdimensional bounty hunter father of Gypsy, and had a knack for being a pain in the neck to her boyfriend, Cisco Ramon.
With all we've been hearing lately regarding "Crisis on Infinite Earths," we can't say we're all that surprised when it comes to any guest role being announced. After all, this unprecedented crossover event spans far beyond the Arrowverse itself, as the producers have already acquired the services of Smallville's Tom Welling and Erica Durance, Birds of Prey's Ashley Scott and even Batman '66's Burt Ward.
Though Sam Raimi has garnered much acclaim by directing pictures such as those making up the initial Spider-Man trilogy, none of us can forget how the horror genre is where he first made a name for himself. After all, the Evil Dead flicks will forever remain cult favorites, and I know how some of you reading this would give your chainsaw-bearing arm for another entry.
From where I'm sitting, it's raining Deathstrokes.
Years after Arrow introduced its own version of Slade Wilson played by Manu Bennett, DC Universe's Titans now has their own spilling blood, with Esai Morales donning the dichotomous mask. Even with that arc currently unfolding, Arrow has created a Deathstroke of tomorrow in the form of John Diggle Jr. (Charlie Barnett).
It was earlier this year when we initially reported on how Katherine McNamara's Mia Smoak character would get a spinoff of her own once Arrow took its final bow. And after months of vague statements given by the network itself, the official announcement finally came down in September, when it it was confirmed that Black Canaries Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy) and Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy Rodgers) will star alongside McNamara.
Though the inclusion of the Spectre in the upcoming "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover event should've been obvious to all, it's not something I'd really thought much about until this week. After all, one can't be too sure of which DC Comics characters The CW will gain license to, but now we know we'll be given yet another nod to the rich source material.
As a huge fan of the Arrowverse myself, all I can say when it comes to the seemingly routine reveals regarding "Crisis on Infinite Earths" is "keep 'em coming." Really, this baby is shaping up to be something I never thought I'd see in my lifetime, as it sure as hell couldn't be done on the motion picture side of things for a variety of reasons.
