Halloween may be over, but Disney+ keeps on handing us treats! We just learned earlier today that Hocus Pocus can be viewed on the new streaming service in 4K Ultra HD. While this might not seem like a big deal at first, it becomes huge when you realize that this marks the first time ever that the beloved 1993 comedy classic can be consumed in this format. The extremely popular platform continues to pleasantly surprise us with material. This is just the latest in what's been a pretty awesome first few days for subscribers.
Not everyone is a fan of Robert Pattinson being cast as Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves' upcoming flick The Batman. In fact, the initial reaction to the news was so vitriolic that the 33-year-old thought he was going to lose the part. Thankfully, that didn't happen. Since the official announcement, plenty of people have also come out in support of Pattinson, including his ex-girlfriend Kristen Stewart, Spider-Man star Tom Holland and former Batman actor Christian Bale.
Just a few days after the launch of their extremely popular streaming service, Disney doesn't look like they're planning on slowing down any time soon. In fact, it seems like they're just getting started. According to our sources, the studio's next big venture is expected to be a live-action adaptation of the beloved Japanese anime TV series Dragon Ball. The film will feature an exclusively Asian cast and operate under a very big budget, meaning that executives think this could be the beginning of another blockbuster franchise.
Ever since it was first announced that Gargoyles would be coming to Disney+, fans have been losing their minds. The launch of the new streaming service yesterday caused the show to trend on Twitter for hours as older generations binged the uncensored version of the series they fell in love with all those years ago. Now Greg Weisman is imploring users to continue watching and talking about the 78 half-hour episodes he created all those years ago in hopes that he'll be given the opportunity to revive it. In his own words:
While it's only been a year since we were last treated to an installment in the Insidious storyline, it feels like it's been forever. The terrifying series has been able to consistently deliver scares for years now and has earned the right to be considered one of the best horror franchises of the past decade.
One of the many awesome early surprises that has come out of Disney+ thus far is the resurgence of Gargoyles. The beloved animated TV series has been revitalized by older fans who are just now rediscovering how great it is and a younger generation of viewers who are falling in love with the mid-nineties classic for the first time. However, those who watched the show's original run may notice that things are a little different this time around.
The streaming wars are well under way and it looks like Disney+ has come out of the gate swinging. Despite the lack of R-rated content, the company's new platform has already amassed ten million sign-ups. This overwhelming demand explains some of the early glitches in the beginning and suggests that Netflix might be in some trouble.
There's a ton of great content for subscribers to binge on Disney+, but there are also some notable omissions on the platform. For example, fans of the two biggest franchises in the world might notice that there are a few Star Wars and Marvel properties absent from the available options of what to watch. Thankfully, Disney already knows there's going to be demand for these movies and has confirmed when the missing films will be hitting the new streaming service.
The hype for Grand Theft Auto 6 is through the roof right now. Fans are reading into every rumor they can find in hopes that they'll hint at the highly-anticipated next installment of the hit franchise. And now, a recent Rockstar Games job listing is bound to increase the anticipation surrounding the yet-to-be-announced project.
Disney Plus is packed with MCU content right now, but there are a couple of notable omissions on the new streaming platform that have fans scratching their heads. More specifically, Tom Holland's Spider-Man movies are nowhere to be found on the service. Even more troubling is that Disney Plus head of content and marketing Ricky Strauss recently said that there are currently no plans to bring over Spider-Man: Far From Home and Spider-Man: Homecoming.
