Yesterday brought us the first teaser for December’s much anticipated Arrowverse crossover “Elseworlds.” There’s so much to look forward to in the three-night extravaganza but the 20 second trailer focused on the reality-bending central premise of the crossover. As we saw, on one particular morning, Oliver Queen wakes up to find that he’s not the man he was – literally, as he’s now married to Iris West, he’s a speedster and his name is Barry Allen.

We knew this switcheroo was coming thanks to the “Elseworlds” official poster and set photos, but the teaser still got fans talking, and some were simply blown away by the promise of the event that will unite Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl

On the other hand, a few people weren’t impressed by the whole premise. Either because they thought it seemed a bit too “Freaky Friday meets Wife Swap” or because the teaser featured some truly horrendous photoshopping.

Others were conflicted, meanwhile. It’s so wrong to see Ollie and Iris in a romantic situation but, wait, they actually make kind of a good couple. Iris has always harbored a crush on the Star City hero, after all.

Stephen Amell previously told us on social media that “Elseworlds” opens with Ollie eating waffles, which we thought was a weird way to kick things off, but now it makes sense. Presumably, subsequent scenes will see Grant Gustin’s character wake up in the life of Oliver Queen, finding himself locked in jail instead.

Elsewhere in “Elseworlds,” the crossover will bring us the debut of Ruby Rose as Batwoman and the return of Tyler Hoechlin as Superman, as well as his dark-suited evil doppelganger. Also, be sure to watch out for Elzabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane, the Arrowverse’s first visit to Gotham City and maybe a couple of unexpected cameos.

“Elseworlds” will unite the Arrowverse – well, except for Legends of Tomorrow – in just under a month, kicking off on December 9th.
